A downloadable game

Tut Tut is becoming a modern classic, now available for numerous platforms including ZX Spectrum, ZX81, PET, Vic20 and Jupiter Ace / Minstrel 4.

This is my port for MSX.  With David's guidance I've ported to this platform and added suitable title music, sound effects and musical stings. This version also includes the level code functionality which was introduced by Dave Curran in the Vic20 version (codes are the same) and some recent new levels. This game has 40 levels plus a 'hidden' treasury which you may access if worthy.

Part puzzle and part action, the game transports you to Egypt in the 1920s. There are stories of mummies strangling would-be tomb raiders. Such nonsense can't possibly hurt you, or can it?

Install instructions

A rom file is provided. This is a 32k rom, intended to start at $4000. Emulators should know how to deal with that. In certain cases (such as my MSX2014) you may need that padded so that the rom file starts at memory location 0. So I've also provided an alternative rom (with @4000 in the name).

It should run fine on any MSX although on a PAL machine the game will play at the intended speed but the music will sound a little slower than intended. If using an emulator you might like to make sure that you're emulating an NTSC model rather than PAL.

As the attract screen says, keys are QAOP. Direction keys are supported, as is the joystick in port A/1.

Nice puzzle game! Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 02:13:48. Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Excellent game !

Fun game, thanks for making it available and sharing with us. Feels like being 40 years back (in a good way)!

Nice, but why such a small game need 16KB of RAM? If using only 8KB of RAM a Master System port would be easy.

Nice game!

Thank you so much, Saberman! I am a huge fan of the game and I can say that without conceit because I didn't create the game. David Stephenson was gracious enough to allow me to port it first to RC2014 (a Z80 system with AY sound and TMS graphics) and from there it was fairly natural to build it for MSX systems.
